Born in 1970, the Venetian Maestro
(master glassmaker) Maestro Eros Raffael, from Murano, has claimed
the attention of the public with Vetreria Millerighe. He began
working with glass at the age of fourteen, assisting the
chandelier-maker Mazzuccato. He then moved to Pavanello where he
worked with Hans Peter Neidhardt, the artist and master cane worker.
From 1991 through 1995 he furthered his glass education under the
tutelage of Adriano dalla Valentino.
Created in 1996, Vetreria Millerighe is a glassworks furnace
specializing in the production of blown glass with the rod and
murrhine techniques. An heir of the great Venetian tradition, this
firm is best known for its production of vases, decanters, ceiling
lamps and glasses.
A combination of shapes and sizes is the foundation of Maestro
Raffael’s magnificent pieces. Known more for his dynamic retro look
and feel, Eros has an eclectic eye for what will appeal to the
masses, this is why his pieces are affordable. From his Venetian
furnace, Eros researches and test new ideas and is constantly
experimenting with new shapes, new formula’s and new tools, which
have led him to produce some of the most Art Glass pieces in the
world today.
