Federico Scarpa comes from a long tine
of creative thinkers from his family, the most prevalent being Carlo
Scarpa, the great Italian Architect. Federico brings light and color
to a whole new level with his flamboyant color combination, strong
lines, and overall eye for the unique.. Through his work, you can
see vivid and daring color schemes and shapes that defy the laws of
glass making. He is a great Artisan and has been working in his
furnace many many years.
The graphic sign that you see under each piece, "F. Scarpa" is the
actual signature of the artist Maestro Federico Scarpa, who uses a
particular diamond wheel point to handwrite it under each and every
piece that is made by him. This is your guarantee that the objects
you've acquired are created using the ancient techniques of 100%
hand glass making and guarantees the genuineness and the singleness
of the Art Piece using the centuries old tradition that is
perpetuated, by Maestros like Federico Scarpa, in Murano, Italy.
These "Objet d'Art" are hence mouth blown and hand made entirely.
The creations of this Maestro, although working with extreme ability (no machine will ever equal them), cannot be attained though the mechanical process. Therefore, small bubble of air, small impurities (such as some "rare earths" not perfectly fused), differences in thickness, in the height or in the diameter of the glass, vertical or transversal lines are thus unavoidable in an original Murano work of art, and truly show the beauty of 100% handmade art glass.
Why Scarpa Creates "Sets" or
"Collections"
His glasswork "sets" or "collections" are a source of elegant forms
and colors that never run dry and which perpetrate the craft
tradition of Murano under his leadership. Scarpa believes that
beauty comes in numbers, and he enriches and renews each collection
he creates through his own personal style.
Clear, precise choices of color caress and highlight the pure forms
which are made completely by hand using refined techniques: the
movement of the volumes and the plays of color set no limit to the
fantasy of the artist. The little imperfections bear witness to the
old-fashioned values of the style of working the glass and stress
the unique nature of each item and the respect for the oldest
technical traditions of glass-working.
